كليلة ودمنة

كليلة و دمنة كان يسمى قبل أن يترجم إلى اللغة العربية باسم الفصول الخمسة وهي مجموعة قصص ذات طابع يرتبط بالحكمة و الأخلاق يرجح أنها تعود لأصول هندية مكتوب بالسنكسريتية و هي قصة الفيلسوف بيدبا حيث تروى قصة عن ملك هندي دبشليم طلب من حكيمه أن يؤلف له خلاصة الحكمة بأسلوب مسلي . لكن النص العربي على أي حال لم يترجم عن الأصل الهندي إذ يبد و أنه انتقل لعدة لغات قبل وصوله للعربية . تذكر بعض المصادر أن ابن المقفع قام بترجمته إلى العربية من ترجمة فارسية بهلوية . في حين تذكر مصادر أخرى أنه نقل من الفارسية إلى السريانية و منها للعربية . معظم شخصيات قصص كليلة و دمنة عبارة عن حيوانات برية فالأسد هو الملك و خادمه ثور اسمه شتربة و كليلة ودمنة هما اثنان من حيوان ابن آوى و شخصيات اخرى عديدة هكذا تدور القصص بالكامل ضمن الغابة و على ألسنة هذه الحيوانات .
