جحا هي شخصية فكاهية انتشرت في كثير من الثقافات القديمة ونسبت إلى شخصيات عديدة عاشت في عصور ومجتمعات مختلفة


هى شخصية رجل فقير كان يعيش احداثه بطريقة مختلفة ويتماشه مع ذلك الأحداث الشبه حقيقية التى كان يعيشها فهو كان يتصرف بذكاء كوميدى ساخر على الأحداث التى كان يعيشها فانتشرت قصصه ومواقفه التى كان يتعامل معها في حياته اليومية وكانت تنتقل قصصه من شخص إلى آخر مما نتج عن ذلك تأليف الكثير من الأحداث الخيالية على قصصه فكل شخص كان يروى قصصه بطريقته الخاصة ومنهم حتى من نسب اعمله لشخص اخر او شخص خيالي.
