صالح -عليه السلام- هو أحد أنبياء الله الذي أرسل للدعوة إلى توحيد الله وعبادته، وقد ذكرت قصة صالح مع قومه ثمود في سورة الشعراء في القرآن الكريم، ويعتبر قوم ثمود أحد القبائل العربية التي تنحدر من أصل أولاد سام بن نوح. قصة صالح مع قومه أرسل صالح -عليه السلام- إلى قبيلة ثمود، وهي قبيلة عربية كانت تسكن الحجب ما بين الحجاز وتبوت، وكانوا من عبدة الأصنام، ولا يؤمنون بالله سبحانه وتعالى، وكانوا في ضلال كبير، واجتمع بهم سيدنا صالح -عليه السلام-، ودعاهم إلى عبادة الله وحده وترك عبادة الأصنام، فرفضوا ذلك لأنهم لا يريدون ترك ما عبده آباؤهم وأجدادهم، وأصرّ عليهم وذكر لهم أن يعبدوا رب الناس الذي ينفعهم ويرزقهم، والذي جعلهم خلفاء من بعد قوم عاد، وذكرهم بنعم الله عليهم، فعندها كذبوه واتهموه بالجنون والسحر، فعندها قال لهم بأنه لا يريد منهم سوى الإيمان، وأنه رسولٌ من الله. معجزة صالح عليه السلام طلب قوم ثمود من سيدنا صالح معجزةً تصدق رسالته وتظهر صدقه، وعندها سألهم صالح عن المعجزة التي يريدونها، فأشاروا إلى صخرة كبيرة قريبة من المكان، وطلبوا من صالح أن يخرج من هذه الصخرة ناقة، وأخذوا يضعون شروطاً تعجيزية في مواصفات الناقة، فذهب صالح بعد ذلك إلى المصلى ودعا الله أن يخرج من الصخرة ناقة. وبعد ذلك خرجت من الصخرة ناقة وفق شروطهم وأمام أعينهم، فتعجب القوم وآمن بعضهم بصالح وهم قلة، والأكثرية استمرت في كفرها، وطلب من قومه أن يتركوا الناقة تشرب من البئر يوماً ثم يشربون منها في اليوم التالي وهكذا، وطلب منهم أن تبقى الناقة بينهم، وأصبحت الناقة تشرب يوماً من البئر، وفي اليوم التالي يأخذ القوم حاجتهم من ماء البئر، واستمروا على هذا الحال وهم يشربون من لبن الناقة. هلاك قوم صالح في أحد الأيام اجتمع القوم لمناقشة شأن الناقة، فتحاوروا حول قتلها أو إبقائها، ورفض بعضهم قتلها خوفاً من العقاب، وبعد ذلك قرروا نقلها، واجتمع تسعة من الرجال، وقتلوا الناقة ومن ثم قتلوا ولد الناقة، ووصل الخبر إلى صالح -عليه السلام-، وحذرهم من عذاب شديد من الله بعد ثلاثة أيام من معرفته الخبر، وأصبحوا يستهزئون بكلام صالح ولم يصدقوه، فقرروا الانتقام من صالح وقتله، وقد حلّ العذاب بالتسعة الذين قتلوا الناقة بإرسال حجارة عليهم، وذلك قبل أن يهلك الله قومهم. وفي الموعد الذي حدده صالح أي بعد ثلاثة أيام، في أول يوم كانت وجوهم مسفرة، وفي اليوم الثاني كانت وجوههم محمرة، وفي يوم السبت الثالث أصبحت وجوههم مسودة، فلما جاءت صبيحة يوم الأحد جلسوا ينتظرون العذاب المقرر لهم، فعندما خرجت الشمس جاءت صيحة من السماء ورجفة في الأرض من تحتهم، فهلكوا وكان ذلك عقاب عنادهم على الكفر.

وفي الصباح، تجمع قوم صالح في مكان فسيح ينتظرون مرور الناقة لتنفيذ مؤامرتهم، وبعد لحظات مرت الناقة العظيمة فتقدم أحدهم منها، وضربها بسهم حاد أصابها في ساقها، فوقعت على الأرض، فضربها قدار بن سالف بالسيف

حتى ماتت، وعلم صالح بما فعل قومه الذين أصروا على السخرية منه

والاستهزاء به، وأوحى الله إليه أن العذاب سوف ينزل بقومه بعد

ثلاثة أيام، فقال صالح -عليه السلام- لهم: {تمتعوا في داركم ثلاثة أيام}

_[هود:65] ولكن القوم كذبوه واستمروا في سخريتهم منه والاستهزاء به، ولما دخل الليل اجتمعت الفئة الكافرة من قوم صالح، وأخذوا يتشاورون في قتل صالح، حتى يتخلصوا منه مثلما تخلصوا من الناقة، ولكن الله -عز وجل- عَجَّلَ العذاب لهؤلاء المفسدين التسعة، فأرسل عليهم حجارة أصابتهم وأهلكتهم..

ومرت الأيام الثلاثة، وخرج الكافرون في صباح اليوم الثالث ينتظرون ما سيحل عليهم من العذاب والنكال، وفي لحظات جاءتهم صيحة شديدة من

السماء، وهزة عنيفة من أسفلهم، فزهقت أرواحهم، وأصبحوا في دارهم هالكين مصروعين.. قال تعالى: {فتلك بيوتهم خاوية بما ظلموا إن في ذلك لآية لقوم يعلمون . وأنجينا الذين آمنوا وكانوا يتقون} [النمل: 52-53] وهكذا أهلك

الله -عز وجل- قوم صالح بسبب كفرهم وعنادهم وقتلهم لناقة الله، والاستهزاء بنبيهم صالح -عليه السلام- وعدم إيمانهم به، وبعد أن أهلك الله الكافرين من ثمود، وقف صالح -عليه السلام- ومن معه من المؤمنين ينظرون إليهم، فقال صالح -عليه السلام- : {يا قوم لقد أبلغتكم رسالة ربي ونصحت لكم ولكن لا تحبون الناصحين} _[الأعراف: 79].

ولقد مرَّ النبي -صلى الله عليه وسلم- على ديار ثمود (المعروفة الآن بمدائن صالح) وهو ذاهب إلى تبوك سنة تسع من الهجرة، فأمر أصحابه أن يمروا عليها خاشعين خائفين، كراهة أن يصيبهم ما أصاب أهلها، وأمرهم بعدم دخول القرية الظالمة وعدم الشرب من مائها. [متفق عليه].
