المنتظم في التاريخ لابن الجوزي

هذا الكتاب من أهم الكتب التي تكلمت في التاريخ، ويعد مرجعًا من مراجع هذا العلم، وقد ابتدأ مصنفه ببدء الخلق وأول من سكن الأرض حتى وصل إلى أواخر القرن السادس الهجري الذي توفي فيه سنة (597هـ)، مخصصًا جانبًا كبيرًا من الكتاب للسيرة النبوية، تناول فيها مرحلة المولد، وما كان فيها من أحداث، ثم مرحلة النبوة، وقد تميز هذا الكتاب عما سبقه من كتب التاريخ بأنه يجمع بين كونه سردًا تاريخيًّا للأحداث على مدار السنوات، وبين احتوائه على ثلاثة آلاف وثلاثمائة ترجمة لمختلف الشخصيات من خلفاء وملوك ووزراء وفقهاء ومحدثين ومؤرخين وفلاسفة وشعراء ومصنفين وغيرهم.
