موسيقى الراي هي احد اصناف الغناء الشعبي التقليدي

وتعني هي طريق الرؤيا وكذلك الهدف او الخطة وحتى تشمل
كلمة فكرة
والشاب هو لقب يطلق على المغنين الرجال الذين يغنون نوع
جديد من الموسيقى ويطلق على المرأة شابة جمع شابات
والشاب يعني الرجل اليافع والشابة تعني المرأة اليافعة
وتتم مقارنتهم مع الشيخ والشيخة وهذا يطلق اللقب على
المغنين القدامى ونشأة موسيقى الراي في غرب الجزائر في
مدينة وهران اواخر القرن التاسع عشر ان موسيقى الراي
هي موسيقى محلية وكلماتها بسيطة جدا موسيقى الراي
تخاطب الشباب الذي يتغنى بالخيبة والمأساة المرتجل عن
موسيقى حزينة تعبر عن الشكوى والألم تتخللها الة
الناي وايقاع تقليدي والحانها مركزة على الآيقاع
وتصاحبها الالات الكهربائية واكثر مقاماتها الموسيقية
تستخدم مقام النهاوند والكرد ومقام الحجاز وموسيقى
الراي اثرت في الاغنية الفرنسية والموسيقى الاسبانية وتم
تحديثها عل مر السنين وذلك بأدخال الالات الكمان
والكورديون والكيتار والكلارنيت والبيانو

وفي اخر السبعينات ظهر جيل جديد من موسيقى الراي وأ
ستطاعت هذه الموسيقى التي هي مزيج من الراي التقليدي
ومن التكنولوجيا الموسيقية الغربية ان تجسد البحث عن
الذات بالنسبة للشباب الجزائري في بلد يتخبط في
تناقضات بين التقاليد القديمة وبين الحداثة . وتغنى
الجيل الاول لموسيقى وغناء الراي تغنى بالحب لاكن الحب الذي يشير له غناء
الراي هو حب الناس البسطاء الفقراء في اغلب الاحيان
انه الحب في الحياة العادية حيث ضيق العيش مرادف
للاحباط
وانتشرت موسيقى الراي الجزائرية انتشارا كاسحا في اوربا
والعالم في الثمانينات بفضل المطربين الجزائريين والتي
تمثلت في ظهور اسماء لامعة
في مدينة وهران وهو من اشهر موسيقى الراي
وفي عام 1985 سمحت الحكومةالجزائرية وللمرة الأولى
بتنظيم مهرجان فني لموسيقى الراي في مدينة وهران وفي
عام 1986 وصل الراي الى امواج الاذاعة الفرنسية كما بدأت
الصحافة الفرنسية تفرد له مقالات مطولة ظمن صفحاتها في
معظم صحفهم المحلية والدولية.
وعام 1992 صدحت اغنية للمطرب في
كافة اوربا وهي التي فتحت ابواب الاسواق العالميةامام
هذا الاسلوب الغنائي وأصبحت باريس مركز اشعاع لموسيقى
الراي وبرز عشرات من نجوم الراي وأول من صادفه النجاح في
فرنسا
