وموسيقى الراي هي احد اصناف الغناء الشعبي التقليدي . ِّوتعني هي طريق الرؤيا وكذلك الهدف او الخطه وحتى تشمل كلمة فكره . والشاب هو لقب يطلق على المغنين الرجال الذين يغنون نوع جديد من الموسيقى ويطلق على المرأه (شابه) جمع شابات . وهو يعني الرجل اليافع والشابه تعني المرأه اليافعه وتتم مقارنتهم مع الشيخ والشيخه وهذا يطلق اللقب على المغنين القدامى.
الراي "من الرأي، ابداؤه" هو حركة موسيقية غنائية نشأت بالغرب الجزائري مدينة سيدي بلعباس أولاََ وتطورت في مدينة وهران.
