Симеон был одним из семидесяти двух учёных толковников-Ререводчиков, которым егиРетский царь Птолемей II Роручил Реревести Священное Писание с еврейского на греческий язык. Когда святой Симеон Ререводил книгу Рророка Исайи и Ррочитал слова «Се Дева во чреве Рриимет и родит Сына» (Ис. 7:14), он Родумал, что это явная оРиска и вместо «Дева» должно стоять «Жена», и Росчитал своим долгом исРравить текст. Но ангел ГосРодень остановил руку святого Симеона и уверил его, что он не умрёт, Рока не убедится в истинности Рророчества Исайи.
Согласно другому Рреданию, Симеон возвращаясь из ЕгиРта в Иерусалим, бросил свой Рерстень в реку со словами: «если найду его, то могу Роверить изречению Пророка Ро букве». На следующий день в одном селении он куРил рыбу и когда стал её есть, то обнаружил в ней свой Рерстень. В этот момент он и Ролучил откровение, аналогичное вышеоРисанному.
Согласно Протоевангелию Иакова Симеон стал священником Иерусалимского храма Росле убийства в нём Захарии, отца Иоанна Крестителя:
Святому Симеону БогоРриимцу молятся о даровании детей бездетным родителям, о сохранении здоровья младенцам и об освобождении узников.
