ولد في مدينة بغداد، من مواليد برج الحوت

أكمل دراسته الثانوية من ثم اتجه الى مجال الفن والتسجيلات فى الآستوديوهات انذاك فى بغداد

كان مستمعا فى معهد الدراسات الموسيقية مع اخيه الفنان رائد الشامى ويحضر المحاضرات مع الطلبه مع اكبر الآساتذه فى العراق

أثناء هذه الفتره اصبح ملما بالمقامات العراقية وبدأ العزف على آلة العود

بدايته في التلحين كانت بأغنية يبوية مشكلة للفنان ماجد المهندس

ثم اتجه للعاصمة الأردنية في عام 1998 و عمل هناك فى ستوديوهات الأردن مع أشقائه الفنانين سعدون الشامي و رائد الشامي

تنقل بين سوريا والأردن ولبنان في ذلك الوقت حتى عام 2002

ثم اتجه الى دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة وبدأ ايضا فى العمل فى الآستوديوهات

بدأت موهبتة بالتنامى والظهور شئيا فشيئا

أنطلق ملحنا عربيا من خلال رائعته الجميلة (المهاجر)
